May’s shifted energy and learning to be emergence

Did you feel the energy shift when the calendar flipped into May?

I sure did. It feels grounded, direct and purposeful for me. It has me jotting notes, following through on my work and re-committing to being more consistent with my communications with you.

Read on to get to my sense of what May energies are highlighting.

Be forewarned: I took liberties often with ‘-y’.

I have a few favorite astrology channels on YouTube, and I so appreciate what they share. I catch myself occasionally feeling a bit envious that they have a built-in way to share consistently. Whether it’s by new moon or full moon, or weekly or monthly transits, they have a nicely structured way to share.

I love the neatly available structure and content that astrology offers.

And the woe-is-me angle on this is that in my line of work I don’t often feel that I have that type of easy structure and content. I don’t feel like I have an easy fall-back for topics or focus.

For me, what I do and what I share is very much a product of a real-time experience. It shows up when the situation or need presents itself.

The logical, organiz-y mind might say “Take a recent situation and share from there.” And I’ve recommended the same many times in the past.

Only here’s the thing. I don’t want to take the guidance, counsel or perspective I share and turn it into something educational or instructive. I don’t want to make it into a declaration of truth to follow and share it as something you should do if you want to ________________ (fill in the blank with the desire or aspiration you long for).

The reality is that what I share in the moment, with the person I share it with is uniquely, specifically relevant to them. There’s this beautiful constellation of qualities, experiences, desires and energies from the person I’m speaking with, and from myself, that form the stimulus for the guidance or direction I share with them.

When you’re struggling with something business-y and trying to figure out what to do or how to do it, about 90% of the time it has almost nothing to do with the ‘what’ or the ‘how’. It almost always has to do with the beliefs and feelings you have. And even more to do with whether, or how well, you are listening to or connected with your innate or soul wisdom.

So here I am trying to figure out this business-y thing of what content to share and how to share content with you more consistently.

What are the beliefs and feelings I’ve been holding on to? That I don’t have easily structured or organized content easily available. That what I have to share feels hard to make relevant. That the experience of what I do is so much better than writing about it so why bother. That I don’t like making educational or ‘teach-y’ content.

Am I listening to my soul guidance? Honestly… only partly. It’s been easier to roll around in my excuses, feelings and beliefs. I’ve been nudged consistently to communicate consistently. That means weekly. And it has also felt like I’m guided to share via video. Again, weekly.

Even knowing this, I still don’t have comfortable clarity on what content is forthcoming or what topics to share on YouTube.

What I do know is that I’m committed to following my soul guidance (even if it takes a while to finally get on board) and May’s energies feel so supportive of committing to, and following through with, my desires/goals of consistently engaging with you. So stay tuned!

May will give us a solid taste of what it is to live as emergence and work with ‘emergent energy.’

This concept of emergent energy has been dancing around with me over the last few months. It has a very clear feel to it: light and swirly, young, like the brand-new tendrils of a vine reaching for what it will anchor to.

What this energy is offering us is a new and powerful way of creating. It’s available in the ethers and comes from within us, both at once. And like a vine it will grab on quickly to what you offer it. Emergent energy will grab on to your feelings-thoughts and work with what you offer and the field of people, places and things around you to make something manifest.

I perceive that this is different from the energy that has been available to us in the past. Creating and manifesting won’t change but the way the energy works within the field of possibilities will.

Emergent energy plays well with, or resides very comfortably within, uncertainty or the unknown. Using the vine analogy again, it thrives in the unknown. Which means that the possibility and potential of emergent energy really shows its full potential when we allow ourselves to step into and work within our own personal unknown.

The concept of emergence is not new to science. The word is used to describe when “entirely new properties and behaviors “emerge,” with no one directing and no one able to foresee the new characteristics from knowledge of the constituents alone.” 1

Throughout May, I believe we will be experiencing emergence and working with emergent energy. In our case, we will play a part in directing the energy by what we offer as feeling-thoughts to create toward our desires. The way emergent energy will support us is by moving us toward what we want to create and taking us to outcomes we didn’t believe possible.

Let me give you an example. Let’s say you want to bring something new into form (maybe a program, a new way of doing things, a new system, an industry changing approach.)

The ‘normal’ way to do something like this would have you mapping a plan, following a pattern you’ve used before or following an expert’s advice. You would probably set goals to help you feel in control or give you a sense of movement, seeking something specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. Your objective would be to mitigate the unknown.

When working with emergent energy, it feels like you would hold that new thing within your awareness as a reality seeking form. As you might imagine, this is in large part an un-known. How it will become, when it will become, through what avenue it will present itself are all unknowns. To work with emergent energy, you would work with your soul or inner wisdom to navigate the unknown and allow the new thing to emerge. In this way it you would not be directing things through plans and thoughts but moving with the energy that is actively supporting you in the unknown.

I want to reiterate that what I’m describing is more than manifesting. I’m talking about energy that supports, facilitates and lends a hand in creating something entirely new, something beyond your conception.

This is my first attempt as describing what I’m perceiving and I hope it helps you. Let me know if it’s making sense in the comments.

I’ll be sharing more about emergent energy later this week on my YouTube channel here.
